Meet Maple Staff Members: Andrew Hathorn
Welcome to the newest installment of Meet Maple Staff Mondays!
Today we are introducing our new 3rd grade teacher, Mr. Andrew Hathorn.
This is Mr. Hathorn's 5th year as a classroom teacher. He started his educational journey volunteering at Monmouth Elementary in a 5th grade classroom. Then he student taught for 1/2 a year at Yujin Gakuen Elementary in 3rd grade and the other 1/2 the year at McCornack in a 5th grade classroom. Next he was at Mt. Vernon for 1 year teaching 2nd grade. Then he spent the last 3 years at Guy Lee Elementary. This is his first year at Maple.
"I am a family man. I have a wife and 3 kids. My wife Rachel volunteers at Maple in my classroom and our son's classroom. Owen is a 2nd grader in his first year at Maple, Eleanor is 3 years old and attends preschool at Maple, and Zoe who is 1 year old. I love watching football in my free time.
I love to teach kids for those aha moments; the moment they understand something. I also really enjoy helping students work problems out together and how to be kind to one another. My favorite snacks are coffee, lipton tea, chips, chocolate, and fruit."
Welcome to Maple, Mr. Hathorn. You are a wonderful addition to our Dragon Team!
