Meet Maple Staff Members: Emma Knight
Julia Britton

It's time to meet: Ms. Emma Knight

Ms. Knight has over 20 years of experience in education and is a Kindergarten teacher in her 4th year at Maple.

"I have taught students from around the world in international communities in Hawaii and California, Oregon, and even in China! I absolutely love learning about different cultures and love learning about my students' families. I enjoy being on a boat on my weekends, fishing and crabbing, foraging for edible plants and fascinating new species on hikes, exploring tidepools and beaches, exploring many forms of artistic creativity, and building/remodeling things with my family. I am not one to stay home very often! I have two awesome kids; one loves doing aerial silks, art, and speaks fluent Spanish, and the other loves soccer, fishing, and math.

I was trained by an ACTUAL Sesame Street puppeteer in puppetry while assistant-directing plays in Honolulu, Hawaii, and now I do shows for kids during the summer at festivals. I also love to bring out my puppets regularly in my classroom!

My classroom has two quotes prominently placed that remind me of the kind of teacher I am and will always be: "Never let anyone dull your sparkle" and "Enthusiasm is excitement with inspiration, motivation, and a pinch of creativity." I try to always teach with a passion that stimulates lifelong learning and growth!"

Wow! Ms. Knight brings such unique and diverse experiences to our school. Thank you for sharing these with us, Ms. Knight.
